Simple Arithmetic Calculator

What this calculator does

The Simple Arithmetic Calculator does the four basic math operations on two numbers: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. It is a quick, clean tool for everyday sums such as splitting a bill, totaling prices, working out quantities, or checking homework, with no ads in the way and no need to open a phone app.

It works with whole numbers, decimals, and negative numbers, and it warns you if you try to divide by zero. You can also switch the page between English, Arabic, and Spanish, which makes it useful for learners and multilingual families.

How to use the Arithmetic Calculator

  1. Enter the first number in the "Number 1" field, for example 10.
  2. Enter the second number in the "Number 2" field, for example 4.
  3. Choose an operation from the list: Add (+), Subtract (−), Multiply (×), or Divide (÷).
  4. Click "Calculate" to see the result below the button.
  5. Change any value or operation and click again for a new answer.

Formula

With A as Number 1 and B as Number 2, the calculator uses:

Addition: A + B Subtraction: A − B Multiplication: A × B Division: A ÷ B (B must not be 0)

The order matters for subtraction and division: the calculator always works out Number 1 minus Number 2, or Number 1 divided by Number 2.

Example

Using A = 10 and B = 4:

A real-life case: three friends share a 75.60 restaurant bill. Enter 75.60 and 3, choose Divide, and each person owes 25.20.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use decimal numbers?

Yes. You can enter decimals such as 12.75 or 0.5 in either field.

Does it work with negative numbers?

Yes. Type a minus sign before the number, for example −8. The usual sign rules apply, so −8 × 3 = −24.

Why can't I divide by zero?

Division by zero has no defined answer in mathematics. If Number 2 is 0 and you choose Divide, the calculator shows a warning instead of a result.

Why does a result sometimes show many decimal places?

Computers store decimal numbers in binary, so a few results (such as 0.1 + 0.2) can show a tiny rounding difference like 0.30000000000000004. The value is correct to many digits; round it to the precision you need.

Can I calculate more than two numbers at once?

The calculator handles two numbers per step. For longer sums, take the result and enter it as Number 1 for the next step.

Does the order of the numbers matter?

For addition and multiplication, no: 3 + 5 and 5 + 3 give the same answer. For subtraction and division it does, so 10 − 4 = 6 but 4 − 10 = −6.

Is my data saved or sent anywhere?

No. Every calculation runs in your browser, and nothing you type is stored or sent to a server.
