What this game is

Mental Math Sprint is a 60-second drill that tests how fast you can do arithmetic in your head. Each round throws one question at a time — addition, subtraction, multiplication or division, depending on the difficulty you pick — and you race the clock to answer as many as possible. It is a quick warm-up before homework, a classroom exercise, or just a way to keep your number sense sharp.

Your score is the number of correct answers, with a streak counter to show how many you have answered in a row. Your best score for each difficulty is saved privately on your own device, so you can try to beat yourself tomorrow.

How to play

  1. Pick a difficulty: Easy uses only addition and subtraction, Medium adds multiplication, and Hard uses multiplication and division.
  2. Press "Start the sprint" to begin the 60-second timer.
  3. Type the answer to each question and press Enter (or let the game read it as you type) — the next question appears instantly.
  4. Beat your best: when the timer ends, your score is compared with the best score saved for that difficulty.

Frequently asked questions

How is my best score stored?

In your browser's local storage, on your own device. Nothing is uploaded, and clearing your browser data resets it.

Can I skip a question?

There is no skip button — that is part of the challenge. A wrong answer does not end the game; it just resets your streak.

Why does it help?

Quick mental arithmetic is the same skill you use when estimating shopping totals, splitting bills or sanity-checking results. If you want the exact answer for a real calculation afterwards, use the Arithmetic Calculator or the Percentage Calculator.
